Amsteltaal consists of 12 groups for newcomers: four at Amsteltaal-Noord and eight at Amsteltaal-Zuid.
Amsteltaal-Noord has the following groups:
- one group 3/4 (Yellow), for pupils aged 6 to 8
- one group 5 (Purple), for pupils aged 8 and 9
- one group 6/7 (Green), for pupils aged 9 and 10
- one group 7/8 (Pink), for pupils aged 10 to 12
Amsteltaal-Zuid consists of the following groups:
- one lower school, group 1/2 (the Red Tulips) for pupils aged 4 to 6
- four middle school groups (the White, Green, Orange, and Turquoise Tulips) for students aged 6 to 9
- three upper school groups (the Lilac, Yellow, and Blue Tulips) for students aged 9 to 12
The actual number of children in each group depends on the number of applications. Therefore, it is possible that a child may be placed in a different group, if their particular age group is full.
Each group contains a maximum of 16 pupils, originating from countries all over the world. Teachers give instruction to small groups of children.
Every day, we work intensively, and according to NT2 didactics, on the following:
• Vocabulary
• Sound education
• Technical reading
• Reading comprehension
• Grammar
• Spelling
• Maths
Naturally, we also work on:
• Crafts
• Music
• Games and expression
• Gymnastics
We draw up an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in Dutch Individueel Ontwikkelingsplan; IOP)) for each pupil, containing learning objectives and the learning trajectory that is to be followed.
